Muscadine Granitas

Combine 1 cup of sugar to 3 cups water and heat in microwave or stove top until sugar has dissolved.  To this mixture, add 1 bottle of red or white muscadine juice.

Place mixture in a container and freeze.  As it freezes, take a fork and rake through the frozen surface to create "snow".

To serve:  Fill glass with frozen mixture and then fill with any flavor wine.  All combinations are wonderful - white or red.

Tip:  Because the frozen granite mixture is very sweet, you might choose a wine that may be a little drier.

And of course, you can omit the wine and add Sprite or a sparkling grape juice.  You'll come up with your own version of frozen heaven.

Muscadine Mulled Wine

3 c. Apple Cider

1/4-1/2 c. brown sugar (to taste)

5 whole cloves

2 whole cinnamon sticks

1/4-1/2 tsp. anise extract or 2 star anise pods

1 orange - peel and juice

Bring almost to a boil then add 1 bottle wine of choice.  Then heat through, but don't boil!

We use our Little River Red, Hobo Livin' (for red)

and Autumn Jewel, Rocky Banks or Still Waters (for white).
